After the success of the Discovery Sport, Brogue has been waiting for the arrival of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery. In line with the latest models from Land Rover, there are plenty of improvements and new technology under that slightly more rounded re-skin. The Intelligent Seat Fold system means you can reconfigure the second and third rows of this 7-seater from a smartphone. Speaking of phones, there are six 12V and nine, yes nine, USB ports to top up with extra power. The 10-inch touchscreen replaces a multitude of dash buttons, and Brogue suggests you spec the 17-speaker Meridian digital surround system. Like the Jaguar F-Pace, a waterproof Activity Key wristband locks and unlocks the car (as well as disables the actual keys) if you want to get out in the great outdoors once you have driven there. Add in huge weight saving (480kg), more ground clearance, greater wading depth and the new Terrain Response 2 system that chooses the correct traction program for whatever surface you happen to be getting “extreme” on, and the 2017 Disco is a superb revamp.
