At Brogue, our remit is simple, to bring the finer things in life to your attention, day in, day out, and while we appreciate luxury, and lusted over the £355,000 Bell & Ross BR-X1 Skeleton Tourbillon at this year’s Baselworld, we know that great design doesn’t have to come with a large price tag. Want proof, well look no further than Alkin Watches and their first timepiece, the elegantly proportioned, impressively detailed Model One. Two years in the making, this 42mm automatic was designed with simplicity, functionality and longevity in mind and features a Seiko NH35A movement, pure white Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 lettering for perfect visibility, sapphire crystal front and back and eminently sensible, extremely comfortable 4 o’clock crown position. All this is wrapped in surgical grade 316L stainless steel and available raw brushed or matte black PVD finish and a choice of black, brown and cognac organic tanned 3.5mm leather straps. Available now on Kickstarter, the Model One also comes with a vegetable-tanned leather travel pouch and Alkin has pledged to annually donate 1% of gross profit to environmental causes around the world. Not bad for a watch that costs less than a good lunch.
