Announced at the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin’s new AMR (Aston Martin Racing) range has finally arrived with the Vantage V8 AMR and the even more aggressive V12 AMR. Unlike the Vantage Pro, both AMRs are thankfully road-legal, with the V8 AMR offering 430hp, while the V12 bests this with a more than impressive 595hp. Sequential manual paddle-shift gearboxes come as standard, but traditionalists can request manual gearboxes (six speed for the V8, seven for the V12) should they so desire. Choose from “Stratus White” with an orange graphic, “Ultramarine Black” with a blue graphic, “Zaffre Blue” with a red graphic or “Scintilla Silver” (Brogue has to ask: who chooses these names?) with a grey motif. Brogue, however, recommends Aston’s AMR “Halo Pack”, a stirring combination of “Stirling Green” and lime green stripes. Perhaps more useful would be the optional “full carbon package” including a lightweight front grille, side strakes, lamp infills and mirror caps, as well as instrument surround. More weight savings come with the AMR Aero Kit, which includes the AMR titanium exhaust, which saves a not inconsiderable 13.6kg.
