It was perhaps inevitable that Bamford Watch Department (the go-to customiser of fine Swiss timepieces, from Zenith to Tag Heuer) would one day launch an own-label marque. The result is the Mayfair (so named after the brand’s London-based HQ), a slick 40mm quartz diver that’s water-resistant to 100m. The model was originally created by BWD founder George Bamford to loan to clients while their one-of-a-kind wristwatches were being serviced – the only issue being no one wanted to give it back. As with the endlessly personalisable designs that put this British lab on the map, the Mayfair comes in an array of stylish finishes to make your own: matte black or grey steel cases, ceramic or aluminium bezels, and rubber, NATO or contrast-stitch leather straps. Naturally, the backplate can be monogrammed too.
