Brogue likes a fine, rugged outdoor bag, and Best Made’s SWS roll-top duffle ticks just about all the boxes. Combining dry bag tech with materials and hardware found in the most demanding adventure kit, this duffle, which comes in black and khaki and in 100-litre and 50-litre sizes, employs 1000 denier Cordura and is fully lined with a water-resistant coated cotton twill, then finished with pliant seatbelt webbing and YKK Aquaguard rubberised zippers. Best Made knows a thing or two about the outdoors, after all the company was founded in 2009 by Peter Buchanan-Smith who wanted a better axe, so decided to make one. And this same desire to make the finest example of kit comes to the SWS duffle: the lining is a light-coloured fabric to aid interior visibility; all the hardware is metal, including the powder coated zinc spring release side buckles; the roll-top closure allows for more flexible cargo space and, like the best dry bags, makes for an impervious barrier to the elements.
