This new top-of-the-range 7 Series from BMW is a long-wheelbase luxury car that will not only eat up motorway miles as you reside inside enjoying exceptional comfort, it can best a Porsche 911 from 0-62mph. The M team have placed a 6.6-litre twin turbo V12 engine under the hood with 600hp at 5,500rpm and a huge 800Nm of torque from just 1,500rpm. So this means 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a restricted top speed of 155 mph – but the optional M Driver’s Package raises this to a blistering 189mph. Now read those stats again and remember that this is a two-tonne limousine. The ride is superb with air suspension, active roll stabilisation to cut side-to-side body movement, as well as rear-wheel steering to counteract the 760Li’s length in sharp corners. And like all the new 7 Series models, the car is bursting with technology including gesture control for the infotainment system, electrically adjustable seats trimmed in Merino leather and a built-in rear Samsung tablet to control everything from the media playing to the colour of the interior lighting. Even the car’s key is a touchscreen.
