This year marks the 75th Anniversary of IWC’s ‘Portugieser’ (the original name afforded the iconic IWC collection we’ve long worn and loved as the ‘Portuguese’). Naturally the manufacture is marking the occasion with the release of an armful of new timepieces, including the marque’s first Annual Calendar watch (Ref. 5035), featuring a new calibre designed and built in-house, two barrels that provide its eponymous complication with sufficient torque to drive its month, date and day discs, and a seven-day power reserve to keep it ticking over.
