Launched in 1939 as the official seating for the Swiss National Exhibition, the Landi Chair by Hans Coray has been picked up by Vitra and is back in production. Made from lightweight aluminium, the instantly recognisable matte anodised design is weatherproof and supremely comfortable thanks to the innovative three-dimensional, hole-punched moulded seat. As one of the first designs to combine a seat shell and self-supporting frame, this original modernist icon has inspired countless others – after all, Charles and Ray Eames had to get their inspiration from somewhere.
