Like the Boxster before it, the new Porsche 718 Cayman has been given a stylish update and more powerful flat-four turbo engines. The 718 Cayman now has a 300bhp 2.0-litre engine, while the 718 Cayman S sports a 350bhp 2.5-litre version. Both are a 25bhp increase over the previous models, and both come in six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK transmission flavours. The 718 Cayman can manage 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and go on to 170mph, however the S bests this (4.2 seconds, top speed of 177mph). Fuel economy? Really? If we must: the non ‘S’ manual model goes up from 34.9mpg to a claimed 40.9mpg. The chassis has been altered with stiffer springs and thicker anti-roll bars to tighten body control, too. There is a new 7in touchscreen display inside for navigation as well as the option of Apple CarPlay. Four LED break spots on either side of the rear is a nice touch to finish on, too.
