Brogue thought that drones came in all shapes and sizes, then we came across the appropriately named PowerVision PowerEgg. Beneath this ovoid-shaped design lies the technical wizardry to make the PowerEgg capable of gesture recognition remote control. Using the “Maestro” controller, takeoff and landing is achieved at the push of a button. It also allows you to steer the drone in flight, thanks to integrated accelerometers and gyroscopes, using up-down, left-right, and near-far motions. For enhanced control there is thankfully also a traditional two-handed remote. Long distance, real-time video transmission using the on-board 4K UHD camera of up to 3.1 miles (5km) is possible during a maximum flight time of 23 minutes, while automated flight modes include Follow Me, Orbit, WayPoint, and Selfie mode. The PowerEgg begins shipping in mid-October. Smashing.
