Brogue approves of Sonos. The sound quality of this multiroom system is exceptional, and the design is perfectly agreeable. However, on 21 July the audio brand is bringing out the “purest form” of its baby speaker from the range. The limited edition SONOS PLAY:1 Tone is all about what isn’t there. Gone is the grey speaker grille and contrast lettering, and in comes muted matte tones and a subtler logo for a deliciously understated design that should blend gracefully into any room. The minimalistic monotone styling comes in absolute black or pristine white, and, just like standard PLAY:1s, the two custom-designed drivers with dedicated amplifiers should fill a room with exemplary sound. Brogue suggests getting a pair and linking them to broadcast in stereo. But be quick as only 5,000 will be made in each colour and there’s a limit of two per household.
